The Romantic Border
A blue, white and pink border for sun and half shade.
Blooming begins early in January/February with Christmas Rose (Helleborus orientalis). Next the Cranesbill ‘Jolly Bee’ puts on a long show with sky blue flowers, along with various white ground cover plants.
This is followed by Goatsbeard (Aruncus dioica ‘Horatio’), Bellflower (Campanula persicifolia ‘Caerulea’), Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) and Knotweed Persicaria amplexicaulis ‘Rosea’), alternated with grasses. The grasses provide vertical accents and give the borders ‘solidity’. July sees the blossoming of the pink Phlox and, at the end of the summer, white Windflowers (Anemones) and blue Asters join them.
If you decide on the additional bulb kit, you will be able to walk through your own Keukenhof (this spectacular bulb park in Holland is also known as ‘the Garden of Europe’) in April and May: a floral sea of white Narcissi, Bluebells and dark purple, pink and white Tulips. Wonderful in combination with the yellowy-green Milkweed (Euphorbia Palustris)!
